March 17, 2008 The AABCD released a new article titled "AABCD Publication: Myths and Misconceptions about Higher Liability Insurance Limits" to explain why trial lawyers advocate expansion of New York's medical liability excess insurance program from the current $1 million to $10 million. January 18, 2008 The AABCD released its contingency plan for New York State physicians in case the state legislature fails to address the spiraling liability insurance costs prior to July 1, 2008. The plan calls for establishing a new risk retention group, Medical Defense Indemnity Company, a Risk Retention Group, as soon as possible.
